Instructions for making your stay at Villa Gecko

(no 14) pleasant and comfortable (please print & keep)

KEYS

Keys to Villa Gecko will have been placed in a key-box fixed to a garage pillar, next to the light switch.

The code will be issued to you by your agent or us prior to leaving the UK.

If the keys are NOT there-please call the managing agents 00357 99195088 who will act swiftly.

DIRECTIONS FROM PAPHOS AIRPORT TO CORAL BAY

  • Drive from the airport, with the sea to your right until you come to a    T-junction.  Turn left on the B6 to Paphos.

  • You will reach a roundabout with Debenhams and Next on the right.  Turn left onto a dual carriageway.

  • At the next roundabout turn right (3rd exit).

  • Continue on this road, through junctions for approximately 10km.

  • You will pass tourist and shopping areas on the Tomb of the Kings road and the sea will be on the left.

  • This road leads to Coral Bay and beyond. Continue until you see a road sign to turn left, into Coral Bay (speed ramps).

  • Continue, passing the Coral Beach car parks, and take the first left turn towards the Coral Beach Hotel.  Pass this hotel on your left, and O’Solomons bar on your right, and then turn right into Aristo Coral Bay Village 12, which is a further 100mtrs on your right.

If the barrier is down, the code to raise it is:  Bell 1234 Bell.

Follow the road round to the left, and take the 2nd right.  Follow the road as it bends to the right until you cannot go any further (only 30mtrs).  Villa Gecko will be on your left (number 14).

AIRCON

For the air conditioning to operate, a fob on the keys to the villa must be within range of a sensor within the lobby area of the front door.

WATER

The water pump is at the top of the stairs to the left of the window. Press it to turn it on (a red light will show) before running a bath or taking a shower. Please remember to turn it off once all baths/showers are finished. It does not need to be put on when running dishwasher, washing machine or kitchen tap.

DRINKING WATER

Use the kitchen tap for drinking water.  At the base of the kitchen tap is a small silver tap – this is the water used for making up squash and ice and is fine to drink. Alternatively bottled water is cheap.  Kettle Water:  water in the Paphos area is quite 'hard' (just as it is in the Thames valley).  Because of this, calcium deposits will start to form at the bottom of the kettle, which generally leads to 'grit' in tea/coffee, which doesn't make for a great hot drink.  This is easily reversed by pouring a bottle of white vinegar:water into the kettle at the start of your holiday and leaving over night - then pour it back into the bottle in the morning, and rinse the kettle.  The vinegar bottle is in the kitchen, usually under the sink (but check other cupboards if not there).  This will ensure tea tastes as it should!

IRRIGATION

Outside plants are watered by an automatic sprinkler system once a day – best not to leave books or towels on the lawn as the system starts without warning! Please water indoor plants occasionally.

INDOOR PLANTS

There are three floor-standing, and one table top, indoor plants.  Please help to keep them watered by ensuring the soil does not become dry.  A half pan of water twice weekley will keep the floor plants happy.  A cup of water twice weekley will keep the table plant going.  Any attention you give to the plants would be much appreciated.

TRANSPORT

The number 15 bus starts from opposite the gates to Coral Bay 12 – they run every 10-20 minutes (fewer at night and on Sundays and more frequently at peak times). It takes you directly to Paphos and finishes at the Water Park. If you are going to or from the Water Park the bus is free. The water Park is worth a visit – it costs (C£)15 per adult and £8 per child. It opens at 9.30am and is worth a visit. There are lockers (limited availability) and cafes serving the usual ‘fast foods’. Food and drink is not meant to be taken in.

Paphos is worth visiting – there are many restaurants along the harbour – our favourite Hobo serves delicious food and lovely, creamy milkshakes.

TELEVISION

Turn the television on by pressing the switch at the right hand side. A plain blue screen will show. Take the biggest remote (Toshiba) and underneath the no.9 is a circle with an arrow entering it. Press that until EXT3 comes up – that will take you to the station last watched. To change stations use the small dark grey remote (Star Sat – make sure it’s turned on) – press the OK centre button and a list of 19 Favourite Channels will show – use the arrow key to scroll up and down. There is BBC News on 2 and two children’s channels. Films and classic comedies are shown throughout the day but unfortunately there is no listing system as there is with SkyPlus.

The DVD will override any programme shown. We have bought DVD’s locally and they have always been fine – and they’re cheaper than buying in the UK.

For big sporting events O’Solomon’s bar (turn left onto main road) is your best bet – good food and drink are served from 10am until late – and the six, or so, screens positioned inside and out ensure you a good view. There is also table football, trampoline, billiards, and a darts board.

TOILETS

There are bins beside all toilets – please put all toilet paper and sanitary goods in them.

BINS

At the entrance to Coral Park 12 are three large, green bins –  where all rubbish has to be taken.

POOL

Every 2-3 days maintenance men from Burton Management will come to clean the pool and when necessary, fill it up. Please use plastic glasses when near the pool.

WINDOWS AND SHUTTERS

To open the windows turn the small white screw in the middle of the window divide. When this is out press down on the window lock and the window will slide open. When the shutters are open please ensure they are ‘locked’ by pushing onto the small, plastic catch outside.

SUPERMARKETS

Our local supermarket (25yds further on than O’Solomon’s) is open from 8am-8pm (later in Summer) and sells all your basics including newspapers. There is a 24hr shop on the main Coral Bay Road that stocks the basics such as bread and milk too.

CASHPOINT

You can exchange money at the Coral Beach Hotel but the nearest cash point is in Coral Bay Avenue (where all the restaurants are).

CORAL BEACH HOTEL

This is a lovely place to go and have afternoon tea and cakes or  sundowners.  Service is good and the food delicious.
